Scrip - a key source for Fundraising

What is scrip? Scrip is a term that means "substitute money".

When Portage Lacrosse members purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. The scrip is issued by the national and local retailers where many of Portage Lacrosse families already shop. These merchants want to support Portage Lacrosse, and in return ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. Portage Lacrosse members can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, they earn revenue for Portage Lacrosse.

Scrip' is gift certificates to individual retailers.  Lacrosse purchases the 'scrip' at a discount and then sells them at face value to earn money.  When you purchase 'scrip' you earn money towards free scrip or a credit towards Lacrosse Registration. ONE Example:  You purchase $100 in Applebees Lacrosse earns $4 You earn $4 Applebees is just one of HUNDREDS of merchants/retailers that participate in this program. Vendors participating in the scrip program include Speedway, Marathon, Shell and Exxon/Mobile. Putting gas in your vehicle is an easy way to participate, and put a little extra money in your budget. Other retail vendors include: Office Max, Office Depot, JCPenney, MC Sports, Old Navy, TJMaxx, Sears, Shoe Carnival, Payless, just to name a few. Please download the "Scrip Order Form" or check out the Great Lakes Scrip website at http://www.glscrip.com. Place and pay for your order by Tuesday and have your 'scrip' by Friday. A few scrip are already in stock, so you may have them immediately. When your account reaches $10 minimum you can take FREE scrip or save it up to put towards Lacrosse registration fee.

Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations, including Portage Lacrosse; to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Portage Lacrosse buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to Portage Lacrosse members for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by your organization as revenue.
